The Olympic Games

The Olympic Games were first held in Athens in the year 776 B.C., and the Institution of the Olympic Truce was by the King of Elis – namely King Iphitos. These games were held, and celebrated each year since then in the summer months of the year, being a one day sporting event. The time span between any two Olympics was later termed as an Olympiad.
